Just know I died the day you set me free.
“and the world’s got me dizzy again..”

the summer beat of a winter heart. i watched autumn turn alibi into an art. igniting the words as they fall from your lips; burning out before the floor like flares from sinking ships. hollow sheets on box spring streets. click, delete. catch me if you can. shopping for truth in a generic brand. busy signals in your pulse. finding diamonds on bridges that weren’t built to cross. save me from my own head. i’ll never be safe from the fifth post bed.

But now i’ve seen so many things since then.
I’ve seen enemies turn lovers,
then just become good friends.
I’ve caught up with some old loved ones,
then i just lost touch again;
“Hey, how ya been?”
“I’ve been travelin’. Rock and rollin’,
How you been?”
“I’ve been workin’. Having children.”
But all this chasing after sunsets,
all this shooting at the moon,
has got us drinking from the gutter,
picking food out of the broom.
But it ain’t hard to second guess yourself
when you’re dressing up a wound,
ain’t that the truth..
